I have been watching my dog, Bando, and supporting him, as he goes through some health challenges. The part of me that is a ‘good dog mom’ is all about doing things to help him, about solving the problem. But the wiser part of me knows that he has created this issue to help him with his spirit journey and with what he is here to learn. I looked at Bando and his lameness in the meditation space, and I understood that these challenges are tools that invite us to step into greater unity with our own spirits. This is what I got.
Invitation
We have created this journey to invite
Spirit to settle in the house of the body.
When Spirit flies like a flag above our heads,
We stand in our challenges and do not see
That all things are ours for the asking.
When we step into a crisis,
All in our desperation,
We draw Spirit in.
For a brief time we are all parts
United.
But then, life settles, and our fear
Rises like cream and separates the I from us.
Over and over we make
These troubled times
So that we may practice unity.
One day we will no longer need this dynamic.
For we will know,
And our yoyos will have been
Outgrown.
