Body Speaks

How do you receive guidance from within? There are many ways of knowing.  One way is to feel, to get that sensation of happiness or rightness or wrongness or anxiety.  Others just know, a certain course or person is right or wrong—a sense of knowing that is absolute or unexpected.  For many people, however, for those who are not yet open to the communication of the spirit, the only way left for spirit to get its message across is by physical means.  Sometimes that means physical like the crash of a car, the loss of a job, the fire in a house, or perhaps, any other catastrophe that might serve to get your attention.

Or maybe it is the body talking; it amazes me how many people accept the discomfort of their physical bodies without considering that there is another way, without the conviction that they do not have to accept the status quo.  If your life is controlled by any medication that you must take on a daily basis, if you suffer from depression or free-floating anxiety or headaches or colitis or incontinence—all those and more are your body taking with the voice of your spirit.

Spirit is speaking when the body talks. It asks us to listen. Furthermore, it asks us to not accept, to not settle for reflux, heartburn, asthma, or lupus.  It asks us to listen, to learn, and to change. And truly, there are more pleasant ways to hear the voice of god in your cells.  Try meditation, try prayer, try the mindful brushing of a dog’s coat or a walk in the woods after a summer rain.  Be aware.  Be awake. Do not settle. Listen. Be well.
