No secret to anyone that times are tough, climates are changing, and trauma visits in weather and money catastrophes alike. Today I heard some details of the drought in Iowa—of ground so dry that baby animals get trapped in the cracks. Of rain that refused to come for months at a time. And as I heard the news, my entire body shivered with goose bumps. And I received this truth:
Earth herself has a drawn a line in the sand, and she has spoken:
Enough.
No more.
And just like that, what used to work won’t work anymore.
And I asked myself, what do they farm in Iowa? And I thought of Texas, where millions of trees have chosen to leave, and cows have been slaughtered in the thousands because there is no grass for them to eat. And I heard the words reverberate:
No more.
No more factory farming. No more CAFO’s. No more mono-culture crops. No more corporations (carefully naming no names) who exist to birth greed from greed from the womb of the land.
Earth could not be speaking any more clearly. Just as our bodies talk, Earth talks. And for those who cannot hear the pain of the thirsty trees, or the anger of the penned steers, Earth is talking for them in tornadoes, floods, and hurricanes. She is not angry, she is simply clear. She does not seek to punish us; she simply wants us to hear her.
And I challenge you—where in your life are things no longer flowing in the same old way? Where does the power of No more! reverberate throughout your life? And are you listening?

Beautifully written, timely and relevant. Thanks for this post Alix.

The time to act is now–if each person would just start with one small step towards a new way . . .
