When I Was Young in This Lifetime

Sooo, I was reflecting on my recent poem, Child.  And although what I wrote there was certainly a piece of the truth from this lifetime, it was not the whole truth. Like the sun through the summer trees, we all stand in the dapples of the joy and pain of the past.  So here’s another piece of mine.

When I Was Young in This Lifetime

 When I was young,

I was a plant

Grown half in shade

And half in sun.

I was watered, but also stoned;

Fed, but also hungry.

For a long time,

I carried anger in my bones.

And then I saw

That all sun is just a desert,

Which blooms small,

And rarely.

While I,

I am all over roses.
