Happiness, Or, What Would You Do With The Rest Of Your Life?

Happiness

This is the first day of the rest of my life.

And what will you do to joy of it?

I will ride my horse

Breathe in the hot sharp smell of him

Summer sweat like eau de joy

I will fill my hands with the fur of my dog

Living velvet that lifts and falls

Hot wet tongue of dog love

This is the first day of the rest of my life.

I will run my hands over my own body

And remember the hot sun sands beneath me

Remember the seagull cries of love in a shady afternoon

When the sheets stretched out as large and luminous as the love we were making.

This is the first day of the rest of my life.

I will know the joy of surrender

My words will flow like sex beneath my hands

Orgasms of spirit on small keys.

My words will go forth as the breath of my life

Like the fog of truth

Like knowing.

I surrender myself to the me that is only for me

To the knowingness of my own heart

To the threads of love that lift me

And the heart of the past that beats within me still.

All my life a learning to this time

And to this information: that happiness

Is mine

Wherever I choose

To know it.

Ah, so beautiful your poem and so true are the words:
    happiness
    Is mine
    Wherever I choose
    To know it.

Is is our choice to be happy or stay trapped in our anger, sadness, discontent, etc., isn’t it? Thank your for reminding us of this. Much love and light coming your way, hugs, pat

Lovely message of truth and inspiration! Thank you for sharing, Alix! 🙂

  3. Yes indeed, no-one can live our lives for us, we have to live in every moment of it for ourselves and make of it what we will. It’s all freedom of choice. You said it all beautifully, with such eloquence.

Ahh, it seems as if my whole life has been about choosing . . . thank you, ladies, for your responses
