We who carry effort

Are weighed down

By other people’s business,

By luggage and pain

We cannot alter because it’s not our name

On the baggage claim.

We who carry effort

Are bent beneath

Memories in fossil form,

Lifetimes we feel unworthy

To release.

We who walk in struggle

Cannot see

We are one decision away

From free.
